Religious Education Curriculum
RED: To Know You More Clearly
The new Religious Education Directory ‘To Know You More Clearly’ has been implemented in Year 3 at St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Junior School, beginning September 2024.
The model curriculum aims to draw pupils into an encounter with a story, the story of God’s relationship with humanity. It creates the opportunity for religious education to be as rich in knowledge as any other curriculum subject while offering the life-transforming possibilities of biblical wisdom.
Pupils are taught through six branches throughout the academic year:
Branch 1: Creation and Covenant
Branch 2: Prophecy and Promise
Branch 3: Galilee to Jerusalem
Branch 4: Desert to Garden
Branch 5: To the Ends of the Earth
Branch 6: Dialogue and Encounter

Come and See
To fulfil our aims and objectives at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Junior School, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 will all follow the Come and See programme of Religious Education, recommended by the Archdiocese of Liverpool as our scheme of work.
Come and See is an invitation to exploration and promise of life for everyone. Come and See offers the opportunity to search, to explore, to discover, and to respond; this is part of what it is to be human.
Come and See aims to raise questions and provide materials for children to reflect on their own experience. For all children the programme will raise questions of meaning and purpose and enable children to think critically, providing materials for reflecting on their own experience.
It will help them to explore the beliefs and values and the way of life of the Catholic traditions, and of other faith traditions, developing good attitudes and dispositions so that children are instilled with a ‘love of learning’ and a desire to go on learning.
Children will be offered a sense of self-worth through experience of belonging to the caring community of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Junior School.
