Transition support..
TRANSITION KS2/3
At St Margaret Mary’s Junior School we all believe that it is vital to ensure our children have a smooth transition from Year 2 to Year 3 and from Year 6 to Year 7. Adults in all Key Stages work collaboratively to support transition activities, meet new staff and to pass on the relevant information for each individual child. Our programmes have proven to allow adults in the new schools to begin to build those important relationships allowing for the best transition to their new settings for children and reduce some of the anxieties they may experience.
Year 2 Transition
The Year 2 children begin their transition work with Mrs Harris and Mrs Perry and focus on a Transition Booklet created by themselves. The timetable below details the activities that the Year 2 will be involved in during Summer Term 2.
Year 6 Transition
We appreciate that the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 can be anxious and exciting in equal measures for our children. During our Transition Week in July our Year 6 pupils will be able to take part in a range of activities that will raise awareness of some different is issues to prepare them for the life beyond primary school. They will also attend a day in their new high school (Date TBC)
Supporting Children's Transition to Secondary School
This short guide provides tips about how children preparing for, or going through, the transition to secondary school can best be supported by their parents and carers. It includes guidance which explains why the transition can be difficult for some children, and practical advice such as talking and connecting with the new school, as well as suggested resources that children and parents and carers may find useful (Anna Freud- National College for Children in Families)
