Amendment to the Christmas Holiday

Dear Parents/Carers,
RE: Amendment to the Christmas Holiday

Following communication yesterday from the Department for Education and consultation with the Infant school, I am writing to inform parents of a necessary amendment to the Christmas holiday.
As a school, we play an important role in contact tracing, to help in the national effort to limit the spread of COVID19. Public Health England has agreed a 6 day window after the final day of teaching in which school has been asked to remain contactable so that we can assist with contact tracing where necessary. As a result of this, we have made the decision to close school for Christmas on Thursday 17th December and not Friday 18th as originally published.

The children will therefore not attend school on Friday 18th December.
School will close to the pupils on Thursday 17th at the earlier times of:-

Years 3 and 5- 2pm* & Years 4 and 6- 2.15pm*

*Siblings with separate collection times (or children with siblings in the infant school) should be collected at the later time of 2.15pm.
We would like to make all parents and carers aware of the following information and relevant arrangements regarding positive cases during the holidays.
Where a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms more than 48 hours since being in school, the school should not be contacted. Parents and carers should instead follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace.
For the first 6 days after teaching ends, if a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school, the school is asked to assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in school. In this instance, we ask parents to alert school by contacting the Senior Leadership Team e mail:-
School staff will not be on call after Wednesday 23rd December.
Where pupils are required to self-isolate due to contact with a positive case after the first 6 days following the end of term, schools do not need to be informed about their absence until the first day of the new term.
Please note that there is a requirement for schools to provide pupils with 190 days of education. Because of this, school will now be open to our pupils on Friday 30th April. This date was previously advertised as an INSET day. Holiday dates on the website have been amended to take account of the above amendment.
We apologise to parents for any inconvenience caused as a result of this last minute amendment and thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Yours sincerely,

Rebecca Wilkinson - Head Teacher
